Heenan Blaikie Shakespeare Symposium Series
For mature lovers of the Bard, the Shakespearience Festival will once again host a Shakespeare 
Symposium Series featuring members of the scholastic and artistic communities (such as 
celebrated scholar Professor Jill L. Levenson and acclaimed theatre artists Joe Ziegler and Cathy 
MacKinnon, and members of the Driftwood company) engaging in lively discussion panels about 
what it means to experience Shakespeare in the 21 st century.

1:00pm – Man, I Feel Like a Woman – Gender & The Role of Women in Shakespeare 
2:30pm – What Country, Friend, Is This? Shakespeare Performance In Canada 
4:00pm – A Glimpse Into Driftwood's use of A Capella Music 


Shakespeare in Action Workshops 
(various start times between 3:00pm - 5:00pm)

This year, Driftwood Theatre partners with Shakespeare in Action – Canada 's celebrated 
Shakespeare Company for young audiences – to offer young Shakespeare lovers and their 
families the chance to participate in a series of active workshops throughout the day. 
In Meeting Shakespeare, participants will be introduced to Shakespeare's language through a 
series of fun and active games. A Midsummer Night's Dream  will explore one of Shakespeare's 
most popular and fantastical plays. Shakespeare Scene Study  will have each participant 
rehearse and share their very own scene from one of Shakespeare's plays. 
Driftwood Theatre's Twelfth Night In Twenty Minutes Workshop 
(various start times between 3:00pm - 5:00pm)

Need a refresher prior to seeing Driftwood's production of Twelfth Night? Want to introduce your 
budding bards to the themes and characters in Shakespeare's celebrated comedy? Members of 
Driftwood Theatre's 2010 company will lead wild and entertaining workshop where participants 
will have the opportunity to star in their own twenty minute Twelfth Night. 

Playwriting Workshop: Creating Your Very Own Shakespearian Epic 
(3:00pm - 5:00pm)

New this year, the Shakespearience Festival introduces a workshop for the budding playwrights 
in your family. This two-hour hands-on workshop highlights the basics of Shakespeare's writing 
structure and use of epic themes and characters. 

(Although the Playwriting Workshop is free, space is limited and registration is required. Please

5:30pm – Opening Night pre-show reception catered by Whistler's Grille. 
7:30pm – Driftwood Theatre's opening night performance of Twelfth Night.
